Terms of use

Plain English, because terms nobody reads protect nobody. Using RunMapApp means agreeing to what's below.

What this is

RunMapApp is a route planning tool. It's currently in beta, offered free of charge, and provided as-is. Features may change, data coverage varies from place to place, and things will occasionally break.

Use your judgement out there

This is the part that actually matters.

Your account

Keep your password to yourself and don't share your account. Tell us if you think someone else has got into it. We can suspend an account being used to attack the service or to break the law.

Your routes

Your routes stay yours. We store them so you can use them, and we don't publish, sell or share them — see the privacy page for what that means concretely. We may hold backups for a reasonable period after you delete something, because that's how backups work.

Fair use

Please don't scrape the site, hammer the endpoints, resell access, or use it to build a competing dataset. Some of what sits behind this costs money per request, and abuse is what forces limits on everyone else.

Map and data credits

Underlying map, routing, elevation, canopy, crossing and sidewalk data comes from third parties and public agencies, each under its own licence and attributed in the app. Those licences apply to that data wherever it appears here.

No warranty, limited liability

The service is provided without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for loss or injury arising from use of the site or reliance on its data. Nothing here limits liability that legally can't be limited.

Changes and ending things

These terms may change; material changes will be announced rather than quietly slipped in. You can stop using the service and ask for your account to be deleted at any time.

Beta note. This is a small independent project, not a company with a legal department. These terms are written to be honest and readable rather than exhaustive. If something here is unclear, ask via the feedback button and it'll get a straight answer.
